Sign out of the Leadnote app and delete your account
How to log out of the Leadnote app, sign out other devices, change your password and delete your own account or organisation, with what is removed and kept.
To log out of the Leadnote app, open Settings, tap Log out at the bottom and confirm. To delete your account, open Settings, tap Delete account on the web, and continue in the web app, where you confirm with your password.
Logging out only signs this phone out. Deleting an account is permanent, so read the details below first.
Log out
- Open the side menu and tap Settings.
- Scroll to the end and tap Log out. Your email address is shown under it.
- In the "Log out?" sheet, read the message. It says: "When you log in again, data will get synced from the server."
- Confirm.
If changes have not reached the server, the sheet adds how many: "N unsent changes will be lost." Cancel, connect to the internet, tap Tap to sync data and wait for it to finish before you log out.
What logging out does on this phone:
- Deletes the local database and its encryption key.
- Removes your reminders, the business card photos and lead attachment files that were kept on the phone, and any exported file cached by the app.
- Stops notifications for this phone and signs it out of your account. The next login downloads everything again. See First sync explained.
Your data on the server is not affected.
Sign out other devices
Lost a phone? Open Settings > Devices and sessions. This screen needs a connection. You see the devices signed in to your account with "Last used" times, and "This device" marks the current phone.
- To end one session, tap the sign-out icon (tooltip "Sign out this device") on that row and confirm.
- To end all but this one, tap Sign out all other devices at the bottom of the list.
The signed-out device must log in again. More on sessions: Sessions and devices.
Change your password
- Open Settings > Change my password.
- Enter your Old password.
- Enter and confirm the New password. Use at least 8 characters with a letter and a number.
- Optionally tick Sign out my other devices, which signs out anyone who knows the old password, then tap Submit. The app says "Password changed".
This needs a connection. If you forgot your password, log out and use Forgot password? on the log in screen, or choose Log in using OTP.
Delete your account
The Account Owner and everyone else have different options.
| Who you are | What you can delete | When it happens |
|---|---|---|
| Account Owner | The whole organisation. | After a 7 day grace period. You can cancel until it starts. |
| Manager, L1 User or L2 User | Your own account. | Immediately. |
The Account Owner cannot delete only their own user. Delete the organisation, or hand ownership over first.
Steps
- In the app open Settings > Delete account on the web. The same entry is on the About Leadnote screen.
- The sheet "Delete your account on the web?" explains that accounts cannot be deleted from the app and that nothing is deleted from the phone.
- Tap Open the web app. Your browser opens Settings > Data Management on the web. Sign in if needed.
- On the web, Account Owners see "Delete organisation and all data" and everyone else sees "Delete my account".
- Type the confirmation: the organisation name for the owner, your email address for everyone else.
- Enter your password. If two-factor sign-in is on, also enter a fresh code from your authenticator app.
- Press Delete organisation or Delete my account.
The web screens are described step by step in Delete your account or organisation, including how to cancel a scheduled organisation deletion.
What happens next
- Your own account: you are signed out of every device straight away and your personal details are removed. The phone shows the log in screen the next time it contacts the server.
- An organisation: the owner and the Managers get an email, and a banner shows in the web app. For 7 days nothing is deleted and the owner can cancel. After that the organisation is locked, everyone is signed out and the data is deleted.
For the full list of what is deleted and what is kept by law, see what is deleted and what is kept, and why.
If you cannot sign in, the public page leadsnote.com/delete-account explains the options and how to contact support.
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete my account inside the app?
The app only starts it. Settings > Delete account on the web opens the web app, where you confirm with your password. The deletion itself is carried out on the web, not on the phone.
I am the Account Owner. Can I delete only my own user?
No. The owner can delete the whole organisation, or first hand ownership to someone else using Swap ownership in Settings > Users on the web.
Can I undo an organisation deletion?
Yes, during the 7 day grace period. The Account Owner can cancel from Settings > Data Management on the web before the deletion starts.
What happens to my leads when I delete my own account?
Your leads, tasks and lists stay with the organisation and move to the Account Owner. Your personal details and sign-in are removed.
