Change the Leadnote app language, including Arabic
Switch the Leadnote app between eight languages including Arabic with right-to-left layout. See where to change it, what it affects and what stays as typed.
To change the language of the Leadnote app, open the menu, tap Settings, then tap Language under Application settings and choose a language from the list. The change applies immediately, with no restart, and Arabic switches the whole app to right-to-left.
The app is available in eight languages, the same eight as the web app (see language, time zone and formats). Languages other than English are still being reviewed by native speakers, so some wording may read oddly.
- English
- Hindi
- Spanish
- Arabic
- French
- German
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Indonesian
In the language list, every language is named in its own language and script on purpose, so you can find yours even when the screen is in a language you cannot read.
Change the language
- Open the side menu and tap Settings.
- Under Application settings tap Language. The row shows the current choice, or Device default.
- Tap a language. A check mark shows the choice.
- Press back. The whole app is now in that language.
Choose Device default to follow your phone's language. If your phone is set to a language Leadnote does not offer, the app shows English.
Change it before you log in
On the Welcome screen the language chip (Select language) lets you pick a language before you sign in, so the login screens and the sign-up form appear in it. Later, the choice in Settings > Language is used.
What changes and what does not
Changes with the language:
- Menus, tabs, buttons, form labels, errors and messages.
- Dates, times and the day names in the follow-up calendar.
- Reminder texts the app creates on the phone, such as the notification title.
Does not change:
- Names, organisations, notes, comments, tags, templates, custom field names, list names and stage names. These are your organisation's own data.
- Amounts and currency, which follow your organisation's settings. The grouping of numbers (for example lakh and crore, or thousands and millions) is also an organisation setting.
Arabic and right-to-left
When you choose Arabic:
- The layout mirrors, so lists, tabs and navigation run from right to left.
- Sign-in fields that must stay left-to-right, such as email, password and codes, keep that direction so they are easy to type.
- Numbers keep their format according to your organisation settings.
If something looks off, for example a mixed English and Arabic name, it comes from the data typed in, not from the layout.
Typing, dictation and business cards in other languages
You can type leads, notes and comments in any language your phone keyboard supports, including Arabic and Hindi. The data is stored exactly as typed and shows the same way for colleagues who use a different app language.
Voice dictation (the microphone beside a notes field) opens your phone's own speech recogniser. It listens in the language your phone's voice input is set to, which is controlled in Android and not by the Leadnote language setting. The dictation prompt and button labels still follow the app language.
The business card scanner reads Latin script (for example English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese or Indonesian). For cards printed in Arabic or Devanagari script, take the photo anyway to keep it with the lead, and type the details by hand. See Scan business cards into leads.
Saved on the phone and the server
The language you pick is stored on the phone and also told to the server when you are online. If you are offline when you change it, the change works at once on the phone.
Tips for teams
- Each person chooses their own language. A manager can use English while a field team uses Hindi or Arabic.
- Messages you send to leads use the template text you or your team wrote, not the language of the app. Create templates in each language you need. See Call, WhatsApp, text and email a lead.
Frequently asked questions
Which languages does the Leadnote app support?
English, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil) and Indonesian. You can also leave it on Device default.
Does changing the language translate my leads and notes?
No. The app translates its own screens, buttons and messages. Names, notes, comments, templates and other data you or your team typed stay in the language they were written in.
Does Arabic switch the screen to right-to-left?
Yes. The whole layout mirrors at once when you pick Arabic, including the menu, tabs and lists.
Will the web app switch language too?
Your choice is saved on your phone and told to the server on a best-effort basis. The web app has its own language setting, which you can check on the web.
