Change language, time zone and formats in Leadnote

Choose your Leadnote language, then set the organisation time zone, date and time format, digit grouping and financial year, with a preview of each.

Last updated 4 min read

Leadnote has two kinds of settings for how things look. Language is personal, and each person can pick their own. Time zone, date format, number format and financial year belong to the organisation, and the Account Owner or a Manager sets them once for everyone.

Supported languages

Leadnote speaks eight languages: English, Hindi (हिन्दी), Spanish (Español), Arabic (العربية), French (Français), German (Deutsch), Portuguese for Brazil (Português (Brasil)) and Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia). Arabic switches the whole layout to right to left. Languages other than English are still being reviewed by native speakers, so some wording may read oddly. The Leadnote mobile app has the same eight languages, see languages and Arabic in the app.

Change your own language

  1. Select your profile picture at the top right to open the account menu.
  2. Choose Language.
  3. Pick your language from the list. Names appear in the language itself, so you can find yours even if the screen is in another language.

Leadnote saves the choice on your account and reloads the page in the new language. It stays when you sign in again on another device.

Set the organisation default language

The default is used for people who have not chosen a language. Leadnote picks a language in this order:

  1. The language a person chose on their own account.
  2. The language last chosen on that browser.
  3. The language of their browser, when Leadnote offers it.
  4. The organisation default.
  5. English.

So the default mostly matters for people whose browser is set to a language Leadnote does not offer.

To set the default:

  1. Open Settings, then My Organization Profile (see set up your organisation profile).
  2. Go to the Locale Settings card.
  3. Choose a language under "Organisation default language". The line below it shows a sample amount and date in that language.
  4. Select Save.

Locale Settings

All of these are in the Locale Settings card. A Preview panel shows how money, numbers, dates, times and the week start will look before you save.

Setting What it controls
Base currency The organisation's main currency. See below.
Time Zone The zone used to show dates and times for the whole organisation. The list has names such as "(GMT+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi".
Organisation default language The default interface language.
Language and region The regional style for numbers and dates, such as English for India. Leave it empty to follow the base currency.
Digit grouping Automatic (follow the language), Western (1,234,567) or Lakh and crore (12,34,567).
Date format DD-MMM-YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD.
Time format 12 hour (1:30 PM) or 24 hour (13:30).
Financial year starts in The month your financial year begins.
Week starts on The first day of the week.

Money follows the currency's own decimals: none for Japanese yen, two for Indian rupees, three for Kuwaiti dinars.

The base currency

The base currency is the currency Leadnote uses to total deals and reports. Pick it carefully. Once your organisation has quotes, invoices, sales orders or payments, the base currency shows a Locked label and an explanation, because changing it would rewrite issued documents. Lead deal sizes alone do not lock it. Other currencies you can use on documents are covered in currencies in sales documents.

The time zone

The organisation time zone decides how dates and times appear, and the working-hours check uses it too. If your team is spread over several zones, choose the zone of the head office, because there is one organisation time zone. See working hours and holidays.

Who can change what

Setting Who
Your own language Every signed-in user
Locale Settings for the organisation Account Owner and Manager by default

For users with view access only, the Locale Settings fields are disabled.

Plan the change

Changing the date format or digit grouping changes how every user sees dates and amounts. It changes the display only, so if you switch back, the old format returns.

Quick checklist for a new account

  1. Set the time zone to where your team works.
  2. Choose the date format your customers expect.
  3. Pick the financial year start month.
  4. Choose Western or Lakh and crore grouping.
  5. Set the organisation default language.
  6. Check the Preview panel, then Save.
