Getting started
How to sign in to Leadnote (web and mobile)
Sign in to Leadnote with your email and password, add a two-step code if it is switched on, or use an emailed code on the mobile app.
You sign in to Leadnote with your work email and password at the sign-in page. If your account uses two-step verification you then enter a 6 digit code from your authenticator app, and on the mobile app you can also request a one-time code by email instead of typing a password.
Sign in on the web
- Open the Leadnote sign-in page. It is titled Sign in to Leadnote.
- Enter your Email and Password.
- Tick Remember my email on this device if you want the email filled in next time. Leadnote stores only the email address, never the password.
- Select Sign in.
The next time you come back on the same device, the page greets you with Welcome back and asks only for your password. Select Use a different email if someone else needs to sign in.
If the email or password is wrong, Leadnote tells you without saying which of the two was incorrect. After 10 wrong passwords for the same email from the same device within 15 minutes, the form asks you to wait and shows a countdown (You can try again in ...). Wait for it to finish, then try again. A correct password will not help until the countdown ends. For other messages and what to do, see I can't log in.
Two-step verification
If two-step verification is on for you, or your organisation requires it, a correct password leads to a second screen titled Two-step verification.
- Open your authenticator app and read the 6 digit code for Leadnote.
- Type it into Authentication code.
- Optionally tick Trust this device for 30 days so this browser is not asked again for 30 days.
- Select Verify and sign in.
Five wrong codes in a row lock the code step for 15 minutes, but a recovery code still works during the lock. Lost your phone? Select Use a recovery code, type one of the recovery codes you saved (they look like xxxxx-xxxxx) and verify. Each recovery code works once. Back to password returns you to the first step.
If your organisation has made two-step verification compulsory and you have not set it up yet, you see Set up two-factor straight after your password. Follow the steps once and you are signed in. The full set-up guide is in Two-factor authentication.
Sign in with a temporary password
If an owner or manager created your user with a password they chose, the first sign-in shows Choose your own password. Enter the temporary password, then your new password twice, and select Change password and continue. Your new password must differ from the temporary one.
Sign in from an invitation
If you were invited by email, open the link in the message. The Accept your invitation page asks you to choose a password. Use at least 8 characters with a letter and a number. After you select Set password and continue, go to the sign-in page, which confirms "Your password is set. Sign in to get started." Invitation links last 7 days and work only once; if yours does not, ask the sender to resend it. More in Add and invite users.
Forgot your password
- On the sign-in page select Forgot password?.
- Enter the email you signed up with and select Send reset link.
- Open the email and follow the link to Choose a new password.
- Enter the password twice and select Change password. You then return to sign in and see "Your password was changed."
For security, Leadnote always replies "If an account exists for this email, we have sent a link", whether or not the address is registered. A reset link that is old or has been used says it "has expired or was already used"; select Request a new link. Details are in Change or reset your password.
Sign in on the mobile app
The mobile app asks for your Business email and Password and has two extras:
- Log in using OTP sends a 6 digit code to your email. Enter it under 6 digit code and select Verify and log in. The code is valid for 10 minutes, and you can ask for a new one after a short countdown.
- The same two-step verification and recovery-code screens appear when the account uses them.
The mobile app also offers Forgot password? and Contact support on the log-in screen. See Install and sign in on mobile for the phone-specific steps.
Sign out
On the web, open your avatar in the top bar and choose Log out. On a shared computer, always log out and do not tick the trust box. Leadnote signs you out of that browser only.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sign in to Leadnote with an OTP?
On the mobile app, yes: choose Log in using OTP and Leadnote emails a 6 digit code that is valid for 10 minutes. On the web, you sign in with email and password, plus a 6 digit authenticator code if two-step verification is on.
What do I do if I forgot my password?
Select Forgot password? on the sign-in page, enter your email and choose Send reset link. The link in your email opens a page where you choose a new password.
I lost my phone with the authenticator app. How do I get in?
On the verification step choose Use a recovery code and enter one of the codes you saved when you turned two-step verification on. Each code works once. If you have none left, ask your account owner to reset your two-factor.
How long do I stay signed in?
A web session lasts up to 30 days unless you log out. Choosing Trust this device for 30 days also skips the extra code on that browser for 30 days.
