Turn Google Forms and Typeform responses into leads
Connect Typeform with a personal access token, or Google Forms with a small Apps Script, map the questions to lead fields and capture every response.
Typeform and Google Forms can send every response into Leadnote as a lead. For both, you choose a list and match each form question to a lead field. Account Owners and Managers set this up under Integrations.
Connect Typeform
- In Typeform, click your profile, then Your settings, then Personal tokens, then Generate a new token.
- Name the token and give it the
forms:readandwebhooks:writescopes, or choose All scopes. Copy the token. - In Leadnote, open Integrations and choose the Typeform card.
- On the Connection tab, paste the Personal Access Token, choose the Typeform region (Global or EU) and choose Integrate.
Leadnote checks the token with Typeform and stores it encrypted. The token is never shown again. Choose Update token if you need to replace it.
Map a Typeform form
- Open the Forms tab. If a form is missing, choose Sync forms.
- For the form, choose Map fields.
- Pick the List name that should receive the leads.
- Match each Typeform question to a Leadnote field. You can also type a fixed value that every lead gets. First name and Email or Mobile are required. Unmapped answers go to Notes.
- Save the mapping. The form starts capturing leads.
You do not paste a webhook into Typeform. Leadnote registers its webhook address on each form you map. If responses stop, open the form's actions menu and choose Webhook check. It tells you whether the webhook is registered and active, missing, pointing somewhere else or switched off. Choose Repair webhook to register it again.
Use the Capture switch to pause a form. A paused form's responses are acknowledged and ignored. Remove mapping stops a form turning into leads. Disconnect removes Leadnote's webhooks from your forms and deletes every mapping. Leads already captured stay.
Connect Google Forms with Apps Script
Leadnote gives each Google Form a small script. You paste it into the form once, and every submission is sent to Leadnote, signed with a secret that only that form knows.
- Open Integrations and choose the Google Forms card.
- Choose Connect with Apps Script.
- Choose Add form, enter a name that helps you recognise the form, for example "Contact us", and confirm. The real form is connected by its script.
- Choose Get script for that form. Copy the script now. It contains the signing secret and it is not shown again.
- Open your Google Form, then Extensions, then Apps Script.
- Delete any code in the editor, paste the script and save.
- In the toolbar, pick
installLeadnotefrom the function list and press Run. Approve the permissions. Google shows an "unverified app" notice for your own script; choose Advanced, then Go to project. - Submit the Google Form once. The lead appears in your list.
After the first submission, the form's questions appear in the mapping. Open Map fields, choose the list, match the questions and save, exactly as for Typeform. Until then you can only enter fixed values.
If you lose the script, choose Rotate secret. The script already installed in the form stops working at once and its submissions are refused, so paste the new script in. To resend the newest response, run sendLatestResponseToLeadnote in the Apps Script editor.
The Sign in with Google to list forms option needs Google to verify Leadnote's app. It may not be available. The Apps Script option does not depend on it.
What a mapped lead looks like
| Setting | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| List | The list you chose when mapping decides where the lead lands and who it is assigned to. |
| Required fields | A first name, and an email or a mobile number. |
| Unmapped answers | Saved in Notes. |
| Duplicates | A response is never turned into two leads. A response with an email or phone that already exists adds no second lead. |
Status of each form
The Forms table shows Mapped, Not mapped, Paused or Invalid for each form, how many leads it created and when the last response arrived. Open the Activity log tab for the history of responses and errors.
If a lead does not arrive, check that the form is mapped and capturing, run the webhook check for Typeform, or confirm that the Google script ran installLeadnote. See leads not arriving from forms and integrations.
A new lead from either tool can also receive the list's instant greeting, if you switched it on; see auto-responders. For forms on your own website, use Leadnote forms and embed a form on your website. For other form tools, see Zapier.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Google to approve Leadnote for Google Forms?
No. The Apps Script option runs inside your own Google account and needs no Google review. Signing in with Google to list your forms is a separate option that needs Google's verification.
Why does the Google script ask for permissions and show an unverified app notice?
It is your own script. Choose Advanced, then Go to project, and approve the permissions so it can send submissions to Leadnote.
Which Typeform token scopes do I need?
forms:read and webhooks:write, or All scopes.
What happens to answers I did not map?
They are saved in the lead's Notes field. A lead needs a first name and an email or mobile number.
